I Live Here. Ekaterina Fedorova

The work explores the photography of peripheral urban spaces. Photography, possessing the potential to generate a particular form of experience, which is summed up in the title of the study as “nostalgia for the everyday.” The work accumulates several contexts: problematization of peripheral spaces, which have their own myths and geographical images, problematization of everyday life from the perspective of its aestheticization and the ability to produce modes of emergence of aesthetic experience. The phenomenon of nostalgia, as one of the key elements of postmodernism in Fredric Jameson’s theory, as well as an important component in the conceptualization of collective memory — collective affect. Finally, the photographic image itself as a material form capable of producing images in the process of its perception.
